17. Generally, a member shall only act, in the same matter, for a party representing similar interests. If his professional duties require that he act otherwise, the member shall specify the nature of his duties or responsibilities and shall inform the parties concerned that he will cease to act if the situation becomes irreconcilable with his duty to be independent.
